  • Gateway of India:It is an arch monument built during the 20th century. It was erected to welcome the landing of King George V and Queen Mary at Apollo Bunder, Colaba on their visit to India in 1911. It overlooks the Arabian Sea and is often referred to as the Taj Mahal of Mumbai. It is one of the top tourist attractions in the city.
  • Prince of Wales Museum:Founded in the early 1900s, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya is one of the premier cultural institutions in the country. The museum houses a huge collection of Indian artifacts and showcases the history of the county since the Mughal Times.

  1. Elephanta Caves Tour, Mumbai (6 Hours):They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a collection of cave temples dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. They are located on Elephanta Islands, 10 kilometers to the east of Mumbai city. The Elephanta caves contain rock cut stone sculptures that show syncretism of Hindu and Buddhist ideas and iconography. The name, Elephanta was given by the Portuguese as there was a large elephant sculpture in the island. Elephanta Festival is a two day dance and music festival in February every year.
To reach the Elephanta Islands, you will have to take boat from Gateway of India. The first boat leaves at 9 am (boats at every 10 minutes) and the last returning boat is at 5.30 pm. You can have a glimpse of the Arabian Sea and the sky line of Mumbai city while on your way to the Islands. The boat takes 1 hour to reach.
The recommended time to start the tour is between 9 am to 11 am any day of the week except Mondays. And it is best to avoid this tour during monsoons as due to the weather conditions boat services are disrupted.

Take the spiritual journey by visiting the most beautiful and famous temples, churches and mosques in Mumbai. The city has many temples devoted to various Gods and religions. Each temple is different in terms of architecture, structure and terms of worship. A spiritual tour in Mumbai is a good way to relieve yourself from the modern fast paced life and enjoy some quiet time with the tranquil environment of these religious sites.
This tour is available on all days of the week and recommended time is mornings or evenings. Please note that the temples are closed in the afternoons and shut by 9.00pm at night. Below are the list of places that would be covered.
  • Afghan Church:The majestic church is known for its stained glass designs. The tall spire of the church can be seen from many parts of South Mumbai. It was built by British to commemorate the dead of the first Afghan war and disastrous 1842 retreat from Kabul. The church is located in Navy Nagar in the Colaba area of South Mumbai.
  • Babulnath Temple:This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on a small hillock near Girgaum Chowpatty, it is the oldest temple in Mumbai city. The temple is located 1000 feet above sea level and you will be mesmerized by the peace and tranquility present in the temple.
  • Haji Ali Darga:This prominent darga is located at Haji Ali in South Mumbai in the middle of sea. Devotees have to walk a 1 km narrow pathway that submerges under water during high tide. It is the shrine of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari, the Sufi saint. It was constructed in 1431. On Thursdays and Fridays you will notice huge crowd visiting the shrine.
  • Siddhivinayak Temple:Is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is located in Prabhadevi. It is one the richest temples in Mumbai. The temple has a small mandap with the shrine for Siddhi Vinayak (Ganesha who grants your wish). The wooden doors to the sanctum are craved with images of the Ashtavinayak (the eight manifestations of Ganesha in Maharashtra) and the inner roof of the sanctum is plated with gold.
  • Mahalaxmi Temple:it is one of the famous temples of Mumbai situated on Bhulabhai Desai Road in Mahalaxmi. It is dedicated to Mahalaxmi the central deity of Devi Mahatmyam or the ‘Goddess of Wealth’ and was built in 1831 by a Hindu merchant.
  • Jain Temple:Jainism is a section that believes in total non-violence including no harm to animals in any way. The Babu Amichand Panalal Adishwarji Jain Temple is located at Malabar Hills near Hanging Gardens.
  • Iskcon Temple:This temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. It was opened in 1978, the complex includes spacious marble temple, an auditorium, a huge restaurant and a twin towered seven-storey guest house. A glimpse of the Aarti in morning and evening is a delight to watch and hear.

  • Chor Bazaar or the Thieves market/ Flea Market:This iconic market has a history spanning more than 150 years. Located near the Mohammad Ali Road in south Mumbai, the market is open daily from 11 am until 7.30 pm except Fridays.   1. Essel World/ Water Kingdom Tour, Mumbai:
  1. Essel World is the largest amusement park in the country and Water Kingdom is one of the largest theme water parks in the country. Essel World and water Kingdom together make one of Asia’s largest amusement parks. They expand over an area of 64 acres and are frequented by locals and non-locals from all age groups. With a number of exciting rides and entertainment, Essel World and Water Kingdom is a favorite summer destination for many families. The island of fun is located on the coastal Gorai village in northwest Mumbai, a scenic setting injected with wholesome thrill and entertainment. One can travel to the amusement park by taxi/ private vehicle or take a ferry ride from Gorai beach, Borivali West and the rides are available every 15 minutes except between 3:00pm and 6:00pm. Ferry charges are 50 rupees per person.
Essel World has over 57 attractions designed for entertainment for all ages while Water Kingdom offers over 30 attractions. It has the world’s largest Wave Pool that is spread across 100 meters with cool blue water and lush gardens.
The best time to visit the park is between September and June to avoid the heavy monsoons and make the most of the rides. Visitors may club Essel World and Water Kingdom together in 1 day. There is a Skating rink that occupies 3400 square feet of area, maintaining temperature as low as 4 degrees Celsius. Skating shoes are available on an hourly basis at extra cost. This is the only ride that is not included in the entry pass/ticket and visitors need to pay extra. Essel world also has a Bowling Alley, Dance floor to keep you entertained throughout the day.

Enjoy your flight in a chartered helicopter at less than 12000 feet, over either South or North Mumbai with a very friendly pilot who loves to talk about the city. There are three categories available; shared helicopter ride, private ride for couples and private ride for up to 3 persons. Typical rides are of 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 1 hour. Depending on the duration of the tour you will be shown parts of South Mumbai, North Mumbai, Central Mumbai and Navi Mumbai as well as Vashi in case of long rides.   • Jahangir Art Gallery:it is located next to the Prince of Wales Museum. The gallery is open all days of the week and it features paintings of well-known local artists. Timings are 11 am to 7 pm.
  • National Gallery of Modern Art:this is the biggest art gallery in Mumbai at Colaba, South Mumbai. It is located opposite the Prince of Wales Museum. The art gallery is closed on Mondays and the timings are 11 am to 6 pm.
  • RBI Monetary Museum:the museum has a good collection of coins, currency notes, gold bars and financial instruments down the ages. The museum is open from 10.45 am to 5.15pm and is located in the Fort area of South Mumbai. It’s closed on Mondays.
  • Discovery of India Museum:is located in the Nehru Centre at Worli. It displays information on how India evolved over a period of time. Timings are 11 am to 5pm. Closed on Mondays.
  • Dr Bhau Daji Lad Museum:Is located in the complex of Jijamata Udyan Zoo. It was opened in 1872 and is the oldest museum of the city. Timings are 10.30 am to 5.30 pm and closed on Wednesdays.
  • Sassoon Dock:one of the oldest docks in Mumbai, it was built in 1875 and was recently revamped to become a favorite among the art lover in the city. The 142 year old dock is now a piece of art with Mumbaikars artistically recreating the space under st+art Foundation’s India Project. They hosted the Urban Art Festival in 2017 when the dock went through a makeover.

Wildlife & Nature Tour, Mumbai:the only place in Mumbai where one can witness rich flora and fauna is Sanjay Gandhi National Park. A 34 sq. mi protected area is one of the major national parks existing within a metropolis limit and is one of the most visited parks in the world. The park is home to a number of endangered species of flora and fauna. The forest area of the park houses over 1000 plant species, 251 species of migratory, land and water birds, 50,000 species of insects and 40 species of mammals. In addition, the park also provides shelter to 38 species of reptile, 9 species of amphibians, 150 species of butterflies and a large variety of fish. The park is also home to a small population of leopards.
Major tourist attractions at Sanjay Gandhi National Park:
  • Vanrani Narrow gauge train:the park features a “Toy Train” that runs on a narrow gauge railway. The fun train ride of about 15 minutes takes you along the foothills of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial on 190 m Pavilion Hill, traverses a couple of bridges and tunnels and passes over the Deer Park.
  • Boating:another attraction is a boating service available near the Vanrani start point.
  • Tiger and lion Safari:main attraction of the park is lion and tiger safari. The safari is a 20 minute ride through a 30 acres fenced forest area in one of the parks green buses. The park is said to have a total of about 25 lions and lionesses. There are 4 tigers that are kept semi-confined in a fenced area that is toured by the buses.
  • Walking trails:there are several walking trails in the park. The popular Ashok Van trail winds up through thick forest to a dense cluster of Ashoka trees that are a welcome half way resting spot. One can return by Gaumukh trail to an open place of volcanic rock to return to Kanheri caves. A more ambitious route is the View Point trail to the highest point in Mumbai, for a panoramic view of the city and a view of the three lakes of the city – Tulsi Lake, Vihar Lake and Powai Lake. New jungle trails at Sanjay Gandhi National Park allow visitors to see the more unexplored parts of the park.
  • Trimurti Temple:in the forest, there is a famous Jain Temple and is widely visited by Digambar sect of Jain community. It has three huge idols of lord Adinath and his sons, lord Bahubali and lord Bhararta.
  • Kanheri caves:is a protected archaeological site. The caves were sculpted by Buddhist residents starting in the 1st century BCE. They were chiseled out of a massive basaltic rock outcropping.

 

Places near Mumbai

  1. A Day Tour for River Rafting and Water Activities, Kolad (Approx. 10 hrs.): If you are looking for an adrenaline adventure just 2.5 hours from Mumbai then why not take a river rafting trip at Kolad. Kolad is locate on the Mumbai - Panvel – Goa road and it is 130 kms from Mumbai. Kolad is located on the banks of Kundalika River. Kolad also has a railway station that is connected to Mumbai. Weather throughout the year is ideal for rafting in Kolad, but visitors prefer monsoon season (June to September). Rafting during monsoons is an amazing experience as the surroundings are all the more greener, the cascading waterfalls and roaring water in the river strives for a thrilling rafting experience. For those who are not much of accustomed to heavy rainfall can participate in rafting during winter season (October – March). Enjoy rafting for approximately 2 hours at a very reasonable cost. Cost depends on factors like the route chosen, the group size and the season. Weekend and weekday prices also differ.

  • White Water Rafting:white water rafting is possible in the river Kundalika River in the mornings when water is released from the Bhira Dam. The rapids over the river stretch over 12km.

You can also take part in adventure activities such as trekking, mountain climbing, ATV water biking, boating, and mountain cycling and rappelling etc. Many farmhouse have also mushroomed in the last few years.   • Bhaja Caves: the popular Bhaja caves are on the other side of Karla Caves. The rock cut caves date back to 200Bc and they share a similar style of architecture as Karla Caves. The caves include 14 stupas out of which five stupas are inside the caves and the rest are outside.
  • Lions Point: this is a view point in Lonavala which overlooks a deep valley and mountains. Don’t miss out the sunset from this point. Also must try are the cheese pakodas, corn pakodas and Maggi served here. Please note this point closes at 7 pm due to safety reasons.
  • Tigers Point: is a cliff-top with sheer drop of over 650 m, giving an extensive view.
  • Celebrity Wax Museum: you can see wax models of famous Indian celebrities, actors, politicians and few Hollywood actors.

  1. 1 Night Tour to Matheran: a hill station located on the Western Ghats range at an elevation of around 800 m above sea level. It is about 100 km from Mumbai. Matheran which means “forest on the forehead” is an eco-sensitive region, it is Asia’s only Automobile-free hill station. You can take your car till Dhindi point, from there after you will either have to walk along the railway track for about 30 minutes to reach Matheran or the other modes of transportation are horses and hand pulled rickshaws. You can also opt for the toy train but bookings need to be done in advance as the frequency is very limited and time consuming.
There are altogether 28 points, two lakes, two parks, four major worship places in Matheran. Important points are Alexander point, rambag point, little chowk point, big chowk point, one tree hill point, belvedere point, lord’s point, Charlotte Lake, pisharnath mahadev mandir, echo point, sun rise point (panorama point), madavji garden, shiv mandir. Viewpoints like monkey and echo are famous for steep cliffs, deep ravines. One day trekking to vikatgad is an adventurous experience along the cliffs and deep ravines.

This pretty hill station is often referred as the queen of hill stations and offers panoramic view of the plains with the imposing sloppy peaks and surrounding woods. Mahabaleshwar constitutes three villages – Malcolm Peth, Old Mahabaleshwar and some parts of the Shindola village.

Day 1:pick up from your location at Mumbai and leave for Mahabaleshwar as early as possible. It will take about 6 hours to reach Mahabaleshwar. On reaching we will be visiting the famous points in Mahabaleshwar such as Elephants head Point and Kate’s Point, Krishna Devi Temple, Mahabaleshwar mandir, Panchganga Temple, Elphinstone Point, Arthur Seat Point, the famous Lake Venna Dam/Lake and sunset point.
